I am Todd Geers and I live off-grid in the Missouri Ozarks with wind, solar, and my German shepherd, Honor.
A bit about me ...
Retired Navy officer, electrical engineer, and previously served as Senior Applications Engineer and Training Engineer with MidNite Solar, Inc.
Unsure how to design an off-grid renewable energy system? Unsure which components are needed? Unsure how to match the system to your off-grid needs? I can help. I live off-grid; I have designed and/or installed hundreds of systems; I have troubleshot over 15,000 systems. I know off-grid.
My engineering service includes: 1) Discussing your unique wants and needs; 2) Load analysis; 3) Custom system design; 4) Complete parts list.
We can discuss over the phone or via email, or in-person if located in Missouri. I am also available for out-of-state system work, as needed.
Load analysis means an examination of your off-grid needs in terms of consumption, lifestyle, dwelling/structure, and planned appliance purchases.
The system design will include comprehensive electrical schematics, adherence to the National Electrical Code (NEC), and proper wiring and over-current protection (circuit breakers).
The parts list will be your shopping list. I do not sell equipment; you can source the PV equipment on your own to find the best deal.
I design PV (photovoltaic, solar), wind, and/or hydro systems. In addition to the above services, I like to train and educate. An invaluable part of what I offer is the insight into how to live off-grid; how to live successfully with your RE system. How to maintain and troubleshoot. If you live off-grid, you will at some point in time need to troubleshoot the system. It is what it is living off-grid!
I am available to install full PV systems in Missouri and all contiguous states. As for wind and hydro, I do not install the tower or the hydro and water lines, but I am available to install the DC receiving equipment, program, and commission.
Consulting is a service I really enjoy performing, as it combines the Engineering Services with a DIY aspect - I design, you install. I will design the system as mentioned above, answer your questions during the installation period, and be available for live consultation on the day you commission your system. Commissiong a new system can be stressful for the first-timer in terms of final wiring, component programming, and inevitable troubleshooting. A variation of the Consult Service - I can travel to your location to live commission your system, program, troubleshoot, and train.
